Three steps to a secure transaction
Every transaction on the MetaMetals marketplace is protected by escrow. Here's how a typical trade works.
List or bid
The seller lists their product with photos, certification and an asking price. Buyers browse, check seller history and either buy at the listed price or place a bid.
MetaMetals verifies
Payment is held in MetaMetals escrow. The product is shipped to the buyer (or to the MetaMetals vault). MetaMetals experts help with verification before payment is released.
Trade completed
Once verified, payment is released to the seller and the buyer receives confirmed ownership — either physically or digitally in their MetaMetals account.

How MetaMetals protects your transaction
Every trade on the MetaMetals marketplace is protected by escrow. It's an established system where MetaMetals holds the payment and helps with product verification process until both sides are satisfied.
Unlike peer-to-peer sales where you send payment and hope the product arrives, MetaMetals acts as a trusted intermediary. The seller doesn't receive payment until the buyer's product is verified. Our certification helps during that process.
This is the same principle used by established platforms for high-value goods (e.g. watches). However it was adapted specifically for the unique requirements of precious metal trading.
